*FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE*

February 25, 2009
On February 21, 2009, at approximately 6:20 a.m., deputies from the Foothills District responded to an armed robbery at the Walgreens located in the 7100 blk. of North Oracle Road.  According to the manager, as he was opening the store, he was approached by a gunman and forced into the front door.  The manager told deputies the gunman forced him to the back room where the safe was.  The manager was then ordered to open the safe.  The manager indicated that while he was opening the safe, a second suspect entered the office.  The manager described the first suspect as wearing all black and the second suspect was wearing a white sweatshirt hoody.  He further advised that both suspects were wearing masks.

In an apparent coordinated effort, while one of the gunmen held the manager to the ground, the second suspect methodically cleaned out the safe in the office.  Both suspects left the store with an undisclosed amount of money.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Robbery Assault Unit is providing a video clip of the actual robbery in progress in an attempt to identify the suspects.  Anyone wishing to obtain a copy of the video clip is asked to contact the Public Information Officer.

Anyone with information as to the identity of these suspects is asked to contact 911 or 88-CRIME.
