On March 3, 2009, at approximately 12:50 a.m., the Pima County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 phone call from the Department of Public Safety in reference to one of their officers being flagged down. According to information received, an African American male was found deceased by a passerby walking to the Circle K early yesterday morning. When the passerby walked up to the victim, he discovered the victim was deceased and flagged down a DPS officer who was in the area.
Pima County Sheriff’s Homicide Unit detectives responded to further investigate. The victim identified as Allen Fredrick Charles, (DOB 09/20/85), suffered obvious trauma to his body.
Through investigation, detectives have determined that Mr. Charles was involved in an altercation in the area where he was found. Witnesses’ interviews at the scene indicated that an argument occurred between Mr. Charles and two other men, both believed to be homeless. One of the males is described as a Caucasian male in his 50’s with gray hair. He was wearing a black pea coat and a black beanie. It is believed this male may have suffered a head injury as a result of the altercation. The other male is identified as Sidney Bryant Graham (DOB 11/18/66). Mr. Graham is described as an African American male, 6’2”, weighing 195 lbs. Mr. Graham is also blind. Detectives are looking for Mr. Graham as a person of interest.
Detectives have no motive for the murder at this time. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Sidney Bryant Graham is asked to contact 911 or 88-CRIME.
