On March 10, 2009, at approximately 2:30 p.m., deputies from the San Xavier District were requested to respond to the 3700 blk. of West Tetakusim Road in reference to a vehicle collision.  Upon arrival, it was discovered that the Pasqua Yaqui Tribal Police had been involved in a vehicle pursuit which began near Camino de Oeste and West Tetakusim Road.  The driver, identified as Orlando Gonzales Salcido (DOB 11/05/82) was recognized in his vehicle by Pasqua Yaqui Tribal Police as having outstanding warrants for his arrest.  On an attempted traffic stop, Mr. Salcido failed to yield to the officer’s lights and siren.  The pursuit continued eastbound on Tetakusim and eventually ended in the 3700 blk. of West Tetakusim where Mr. Salcido’s vehicle hit a Jeep in a driveway.  The impact of the collision forced the Jeep into the residence and then Mr. Salcido’s vehicle came to rest off a culvert next to the residence.  Law enforcement officers were able to secure the unstable vehicle and found Mr. Salcido deceased.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Traffic Unit responded to further investigate.  At this time, the investigation continues.
