On March 10, 2009, at approximately 2:25 p.m., deputies from the Rincon District responded to the 13,400 blk. of East Old Spanish Trail near the Rocking K Stables in reference to a vehicle collision involving a bicycle.  Upon arrival, deputies found an adult male mortally wounded from being struck by a vehicle.  According to witnesses at the scene, the bicyclist was traveling eastbound on East Old Spanish Trail and was struck from behind by a red Dodge full-sized pickup truck.  The driver of the truck stopped at the scene.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Traffic Unit responded to further investigate.  The bicyclist has been identified as 26-year-old Allen Dixon Johnson.  Mr. Johnson was a police officer for the Tucson Police Department.  He was off-duty at the time of the accident.

At this time, the investigation continues.
