This morning at approximately 8:20 a.m., a deputy observed a vehicle collision on Palo Verde road just north of Veterans Blvd.  The vehicle, a white Toyota pickup, was traveling northbound on Alvernon Way when it lost control.  The vehicle traveled across a dirt median, hitting a sign and a mesquite tree before hitting a concrete barrier on northbound Palo Verde Road.  The driver was deceased at the scene.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Traffic Unit responded to further investigate.  The driver has been identified as Michael Lavern Walton (DOB 07/04/52).  Mr. Walton is from the Tucson area.

At this time, the investigation continues.
