On April 8, 2009, at approximately 8:55 p.m., deputies from the San Xavier District responded to a man down call in the 3200 blk. of East Behan Street.  Upon arrival, deputies found Lottie Bea Payne (DOB 11/04/59) lying in the road, deceased from obvious signs of trauma.  It was initially believed that Ms. Payne was the victim of a hit and run.  Pima County Sheriff’s Traffic Unit and Homicide Unit detectives responded to investigate the incident.  Information developed from witnesses at the scene as well as evidence from trauma to the victim has led detectives from the Homicide Unit to identify this incident as a homicide.

Homicide Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding events leading up to the homicide to call 911 or 88-CRIME.  Autopsy is scheduled for today.
