On April 12, 2009, at approximately 5:00 p.m., deputies from the San Xavier District responded to the 3700 blk. of S. Heifner Place in reference to a small child drowning.  Upon arrival, deputies discovered that Drexel Heights Fire Department was transporting one and a half year-old Arianna Core (DOB 05/23/07) to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.  According to family members, everyone in the home was napping after an Easter outing.  When they awoke, they noticed the child was missing.  Arianna was found in the family hot tub.  Family members pulled her out of the tub and began C.P.R. prior to medical personnel arriving at the scene.

Pima County Sheriff’s Homicide Unit detectives responded to further investigate.  At this time, the incident is being investigated as an accidental drowning.  Investigation is continuing.
