The Pima County Sheriff's Department received information that over the past weekend Sprint, Alltel, and T-Mobile customers received text messages on their cellular phones. The message indicated that there was unusual activity on the customer's bank account. Customers were instructed to call a phone number and were asked to provide personal information.
These text messages were determined to be a scam. As a reminder, banks and credit unions will never contact customers via e-mail or by text message to ask for personal information. If you have questions about your account, or you experience anything unusual in reference to your account, you should contact your financial institution directly. This activity should also be reported to law enforcement immediately.
