On December 8, 2008, at approximately 2:45pm, Pima County Sheriff’s Homicide Unit detectives responded to a remote area near Madera Canyon in Proctor Ranch. According to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Department, mountain bikers found a body on Sunday afternoon; the find was reported to Santa Cruz County on Sunday evening. Santa Cruz Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area on Monday morning, located the deceased, and determined it to be in Pima County’s jurisdiction. They reported to Pima County dispatch that they had located a deceased Hispanic male with obvious signs of trauma. Motive for the crime has not been established. The Homicide Unit is continuing the investigation.
Autopsy is scheduled for today. Identity of the deceased will be provided as soon as it becomes available and next of kin has been notified.
