*FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE*

October 30, 2008

This morning, at approximately 8:05am, deputies responded to the 10300 block of W. Massingale Road in reference to a residential armed robbery.   While responding to the address, deputies located the suspect vehicle, a gray Toyota Tundra, at which time a vehicle pursuit ensued.  The chase ended near the entrance of the Red Roof Inn just west of I-10 on Ina Road.  The vehicle had been successfully spiked at Ina and Wade and was running on two rims (both on the driver’s side).  The female driver fled on foot from the scene, but was apprehended a short distance from the vehicle.  The male passenger surrendered inside the vehicle.  It was discovered that the Toyota Tundra had been reported stolen out of the city.  A suspicious object taken out of the male’s pocket initiated a response from the Bomb Squad to further investigate.  The object was found not to be hazardous.   This residential armed robbery had a domestic violence connection.  Apparently, the female had resided with the victim until recently.

The female is identified as Julia Nicole Leon (DOB 12/14/80).  She was charged with Domestic Violence/Aggravated Assault, Domestic Violence/Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, Auto Theft and Fleeing from Law Enforcement.  The male is identified as Toby Ryan Putman (DOB 05/20/76).  He was charged with Aggravated Assault, Kidnapping, Armed Robbery and Prohibited Possessor of a Firearm.  Both subjects have been transported to the Pima County Adult Detention Center.  Photographs will be forwarded when they are received in the system.
